Nonino Merlot Grappa Monovitigno
Nonino Distillatori, a family-run Friulian distillery established in 1897, pioneered single-varietal grappas (monovitigno) in the 1970s; this expression is made exclusively from fresh Merlot pomace—and distilled soon after fermentation in small copper steam stills to preserve varietal character.
Bottled unaged and clear, it captures the true essence of Merlot, offering aromatics of ripe red berries and soft florals—think cherry, plum, and violet—backed by subtle herbal and vanilla undertones. On the palate, it’s silky, medium-bodied, and harmonious, with flavors of red fruit, pear, dried herbs, a whisper of spice, and a crisp, slightly peppery finish.
