Carpano Antica Formula
Carpano Antica Formula is a premium Italian sweet vermouth originally created in 1786 by Antonio Benedetto Carpano in Turin, widely considered the birthplace of modern vermouth. Revived in the late 20th century by the Branca family, the recipe remains true to its 18th-century origins, emphasizing richness and depth. This vermouth is made from a base of white wines infused with a secret blend of botanicals including vanilla, saffron, and wormwood.
On the palate, it’s velvety and full-bodied, with notes of dried figs, baking spice, and bitter orange, finishing with a lingering, herbal sweetness.
