Fernet-Branca
Fernet‑Branca is a pioneering Italian fernet, a sub‑style of amaro formulated in Milan in 1845 by herbalist Bernardino Branca and still produced by Fratelli Branca Distillerie using a secret blend of 27–40 botanicals—such as myrrh, rhubarb, chamomile, saffron, and gentian—then aged for a year in oak casks.
Aromatically bold and intensely herbal, the nose is a minty‑menthol burst with undercurrents of chamomile, bitter orange, eucalyptus, and licorice. On the tongue, Fernet Branca is mouth‑coating with a tingling bitterness—with woody, rooty, medicinal notes—that leaves a long, dry, tannic finish.
