Akashi White Oak Japanese Blended Whisky
Eigashima Shuzo’s Akashi White Oak Japanese Blended Whisky hails from the historic White Oak distillery in Akashi, Hyōgo (est. 1888; whisky production began in 1984), Japan’s first licensed spirit distillery. This approachable blend melds 70% grain (corn/wheat/rye) with 30% lightly peated malt, matured in a mix of ex‑bourbon, sherry, shōchū, and virgin white oak casks, all influenced by the coastal climate’s brisk seasonality.
The nose offers inviting aromas of banana bread, apricot, dried fruits, honey, black cherry, toffee, sea air, and delicate citrus. On the palate it’s smooth and mellow: vanilla, pine nuts, toffee and lemon with a light salinity and whisper of peat, leading to a medium, wheat‑forward finish.
