Itri Cellars Skin Contact Chapter One & Three
Itri Cellars was founded by winemaker Casey O’Brien. Embracing a low-intervention approach, O’Brien creates "style-first" wines designed to be accessible and unpretentious and meant to reflect the community and friendships he loves. He's decided to represent his wines in "chapters" rather than vintages. The production focuses on using native yeast fermentations and extended skin contact for white grapes, resulting in high-energy, unfined, and texturally complex orange wines.
Chapter One: Mostly Viognier, with a dash of Sauvignon Blanc. The nose shows the umami depth of dried apricots, chamomile and yellow apple. The palate is bold, with lush and herbal stone fruit, green tea, and cured citrus. Great acid and full structure.
Chapter Three: A blend of aromatic grapes, mostly Riesling supported by Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris. The nose is beautiful, with orange blossom, sweet spice, mandarin and fresh grasses. The palate is plump, with layers of citrus, apricot, and hints of herbs. A generous, bold orange.
