Galets de la Berthaude (Perrin) Chateauneuf du Pape 2024
La Berthaud is a distinctive cuvée blending seven varieties, led by Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre with smaller portions of Cinsault, Clairette, Counoise, and Vaccarèse. The estate’s history spans more than a century, with its modern era beginning in 1968 when Roger Perrin took over from his father-in-law, Paul Bravay. Today it is run by Véronique Perrin-Rolin and her son Xavier, who farm roughly 100 acres across 72 sustainably tended parcels with vines averaging 60 years old, some nearing a century.
This is a very full-bodied and tannic wine with plenty of dark fruits, restrained spices, and benefits from plenty of time decanting. Your ideal match for roasted lamb or pot roast. Once you coax it out of its shell, its a total knock out!
