Ramazzotti Amaro
Founded in Milan in 1815 by pharmacist Ausano Ramazzotti, this enduring Italian amaro blends a secret recipe of 33 herbs, roots, flowers, and citrus peels—including gentian, rhubarb, star anise, myrrh, and cinnamon—and is now produced by Pernod Ricard in Canelli with the same traditional maceration method.
At 30% ABV, it delivers a medium bitterness balanced by a rich sweetness, with notes of citrus rind and menthol-herb aroma upfront, followed by candied root-beer, grapefruit peel, cardamom, clove, and nutmeg on the nose. The palate is syrupy yet balanced—root-beer candy and cola sweetness meet bitter cherry, PX-like dried fruit, warming spice, licorice, and faint woody chicory, finishing with a softly bitter, slightly medicinal descent
