Punt e Mes Vermouth
Punt e Mes Vermouth originated in 1870 at Carpano’s Turin wine bar, when a stockbroker asked for vermouth with “a point and a half” bitterness—hence the name in Piedmontese—combining sweet white wine infused with botanicals and a dash of quinine liqueur. Originally crafted by Carpano and later revitalized by Branca in Milan, it sits stylistically between classic Rosso vermouth and Campari, offering both sweetness and assertive herbal bitterness.
On the nose, it displays rich aromas of dark cherry, sweet spices, balsamic reduction, dried fruits, orange zest, and tobacco, while the palate brings creamy grape sweetness, bitter orange, quinine, prune, cola, clove, and coffee notes.
