J.M Rhum Terroir Volcanique
Rhum J.M Terroir Volcanique Vieux Agricole (43 % ABV) is a Martinique agricole aged for at least three years in two distinct heavily charred new American oak barrels—each toasted with “intense” and “extreme” heat—crafted on-site at Distillerie J.M’s Fonds-Préville cooperage at the foot of Mount Pelée, highlighting its volcanic terroir . The Rhône-derived cane juice is column-distilled then matured in re-charred ex-bourbon barrels followed by alligator-charred rum barrels, creating a deep golden spirit combining fresh vegetal and smoke-driven oak warmth.
On the nose, expect vanilla, honeyed caramel, nutmeg, cinnamon, rounded fruit like baked apple, passionfruit, grilled pineapple, and a trace of leather and earthy wood smoke. The palate is luscious and full-bodied with brulèed tropical fruit, stewed banana, dried fig, charred oak spice, coffee, cedar-earthiness, and a lingering vegetal-mineral note, finishing medium-long with warm baking spices and smoky dryness.
