Giuseppe Quintarelli 'Primofiore' 2023
Primofiore means "first flower" and signals this youngest, fresher release from the esteemed Quintarelli Estate. The blend is 50% Corvina & Corvinone and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon & Cabernet Franc with grapes partially dried for around a month, fermented, then aged more or less one year in large Slavonian oak casks.
Wonderfully fresh and vibrant, the wine opens with aromas of rose petals, wild strawberries, green peppercorn, and a delicate hint of sweet spice. Silky and finely textured, it reveals savory herbal nuances on the palate before unfolding into tart wild berries and a subtle twist of blood orange-like citrus that lends brightness and definition. The long, perfumed finish lingers gracefully, and the wine significantly benefits from a slight chill and even a little decant.
