Castello Di Ama Chianti Classico Riserva 2006
Established in 1976 near Gaiole, Castello di Ama is globally renowned for elevating Chianti Classico to new heights. Helmed by managing director Lorenza Sebasti and legendary winemaker Marco Pallanti, the estate is famous for its high-altitude vineyards situated up to 1,740 feet above sea level on rocky, calcareous clay soils.
The 2006 Chianti Classico Riserva is an excellent expression of Sangiovese-dominant Tuscan red. With a concentrated garnet color, the nose is full of cigar smoke, violets, forest floor and a medly of dried raspberry and cherry. The palate is plump, with red cherry, healthy earth, light anise and leather. The wine develops incredibly well over an evening.
