Benoit Ente Chassagne-Montrachet 'Houilleres' 2024
Since establishing his own estate in 1997, Benoit Ente has built a reputation for producing elegant, terroir-driven white Burgundies from just four hectares of vineyards. This wine comes from grapes in a tiny parcel ideally situated in the "Les Houillères" lieu-dit of Chassagne, which directly borders the southern frontier of Puligny-Montrachet. Aged for 18 months in barrel and large oak casks without filtration, it reflects Ente's hallmark precision, purity, and understated power.
This Chardonnay opens with aromas of lime zest, acacia flower, and faint smoky gunflint. The palate uncoils with an intense, line-drive mineral focus that stretches into a profoundly long, chalky-dry finish.
